I’m no longer the perfect princess, but the cold-hearted killer.
Now, whenever I pass by the people of the kingdom they rush to clear out of my way, in fear. “It’s Silvermyst!” I hear them say in panicked whispers all around. Completely different from when they used to say that in happy-excited tones and admiration.
I just mentally shrugged and kept walking. I hadn’t cared too much about what they thought then and I care even less now.

“Elves have green-thumbs, with a few exceptions of course, because we can control the earth’s elements naturally. Everyone is different and can be particularly stronger in one element than others."

“Can you show me your specialty?”

“Yes, prepare to be amazed by my power and skill.” I said this confidently, but I was slightly nervous. Why do I feel I must impress this human? You care about him. The thought whispered trough my mind. No, just think of this as training.

I got my hand ready, open facing the sky. “When I was six years old I could already create an orb of water the size of an apple in my palm” as I said that I formed just that “when most water magic users can barely make the water ripple at that age. Soon after that I was able to make water orbs levitate” I made the orb float and circle around me “and create different shapes still around the same size.” I turned the sphere into a cube then a pyramid and then into a ring. “Between then till before I turned seven I gradually could hold larger amounts of water.” I brought in more water and expanded the ring until the opening was as big as I was then stepped through it. “Go on, I know you want to touch it.” I reached for his hand and guided it straight through the water. He moved his hand this way and that, opening and closing. He didn’t say a word the whole time. After the look of awe on his face he began focusing so intently as if he was trying to remember every moment, every single detail. He was absorbed and was actually listening to me.

“When I was seven and a half I had mastered all three forms of water with my specialty being mist.” I had to raise both my hands for this one. It took some effort to freeze the ring, then after it was completely frozen over I snapped my fingers twice, making it crack all the way down the middle then straight across and letting the four pieces crash to the ground. I raised the broken shards and with extreme concentration I molded it together to form a diamond the size of a beach ball. I clapped my hands three times, making three layers of the ice diamond fall off. The diamond was now as big as a basketball. I brought my hands together; lacing my fingers, in front of me then pulled them apart making the diamond split in half. Now to hollow out the pieces, ice is such a chore, I snapped both of my fingers then rubbed my forefinger and middle finger with my thumb on each hand. The inner center of each half appeared to be raining glitter to the ground until I had the hollowed out shells. I molded the halves together and rounded the sides and corners to make a hollow heart. I reached out and traced a finger over the heart of ice, the first time I touched the water since it was an orb in my palm. I admired it proudly then pushed it and the heart floated over to him. He touched it and with just a thought I made the heart in his hands became mist. “I’m amazing, I know.” I said for him and he smiled which made me smile back.“You may now ask your next question.”

“So what happened when you turned eight?” He asked and I lost my smile.

“I killed someone for the very first time by using my powers.” I said in a casual tone while pretending to inspect my nails. Then I looked up to him searching for a sign that he was disgusted with me or worse, if he pitied me.

[P.O.V. Switch - Gale's Mind]

When she told him that last part her eyes flickered ice-blue then in a blink she returned to her poker face. In that second he saw sadness and hopefulness in her eyes. Who did she kill and why? What was she hoping for from him? He couldn’t really think deeply into it with the fresh memory of her stunning smile. Her silver eyes where bright and she revealed dimples that he never knew were hidden. Now all he wanted to do was seek them out and make her poker face disappear.

“Myst I’m sure you had your reasons.” When I said that she looked away and I cupped her face. “Look at me; I have no room to judge. You can tell me your side of the story when you’re ready and I will listen, I promise.”

Her eyes widened in shock then unexpectedly her eyes watered and tears spilled from them. “How…”

“What?”

“How is it that you believe in me more than my own family had?”

“I have no reason not to believe you. From what you told me you were an extremely talented kid, just eight-years-old, I can’t believe that someone as brilliant as you would kill for no good reason. It's obvious that you care because it affects you to this day.”

“You really think so?”

“About the killing? Yes.”

“No about the extremely talented and brilliant part silly.” She laughed and in that instant he found that he would never hear anything as lovely as her laugh because he knew how rare this was. He can imagine her as a child; face beaming as she soaked up praise from her parents and teachers. He can imagine some of the struggles she went through to keep learning, how she spent more of her time trying to better her skills in water magic than in socializing, and how lonely she must have been.

“We both know that there is no need for me to confirm that well known fact.”

“You’re right, but it still nice to hear you say it.”

“Well too bad I won’t say it again unless you agree to my next question.”

“Ask me.”

“Do you hate me?” The area between her brows wrinkled in confusion.

“No, I don’t hate you. Did I do something to make you feel that way?”

“No. I know you don’t hate me. You wouldn’t have shared your history with me and like to be around me if you did.”

“Then why ask?”

“Because I wanted you to see that even if it’s just a little, you like me. I have a chance with you.”

“Gale...”

“Myst you’re extremely talented, brilliant, beautiful, amazing, who wouldn’t want to be with you? I’d be an idiot not to go after you.”

“S-shit you’re seriously confessing?”

“Does that make you unhappy?”

“No, I’m happy and definitely surprised. I mean the subject change was very drastic from me admitting that I killed someone when I was eight to a love confession from you. I’m new at this. You are one of the very few friends I have. I’m just lost. I don’t know what to do.”

“Then let me lead you a little.” He cupped her face and pressed their lips together.

I've been hesitant with sharing some of this new story I have been working on, but Myst is so awesome I wanted to share. I'm revealing what little I have so far of the beginning & one scene somewhere in the middle.
